Data analysis

  • Why are the data presented in Quick stats and in the main interface window are different?

So that data in the main interface window and Quick Stats displayed the same values in both panels. Quick stats panel is situated in the left bottom corner of the interface. Data presented in the main window are set up.

  • My screen resolution is different than the ones presented in the statistics. Does stat24 count this resolution?

stat24 counts each resolution. If the user has another resolution than the ones displayed in stat24 interface, the resolution is assigned to the closest one in terms of parameters.

  • What are Quick Stats?

Quick Stats are presented in the left-hand panel for the maintenance of statistical data. Information concerning a selected value are presented next to the name of each script.

  • What is the difference between the visit path and the profile path?

The visit path is the number of the subsequent page views of a monitored website by the user, whereas the profile of the visit is a set of subpages visited by the users. A visit profile does not take into account the order of visited subpages or recurrence of visits.

  • Why does the term \'undefined\' occur in several visit paths?

A term \'undefined\' occurs when one of the interface scripts has been removed and the code which is attributed to this script is placed in the website source code. Hence, page views launched from a particular website are recorded, but owing to the removed script, the system is not able to identify the name of the script and displays the \'undefined\' message.

  • Why does the most popular visit path always include the same subpages?

The reason for the path including the same subpages may be: 1) Placing only 1 script in the website source code. 2) Placing the same script on several subpages.

  • What does a term \'unknown\' in stat24 geolocalization mean?

The term \'unknown\' means entries made from IP addresses which have not been located by the system.

  • Are the banner advertisement clicks recorded under Referrers > Referrer Websites?

If a banner is located directly on the website (its code is incorporated within the page source code), the entries are recorded as referrers from another website. However, if the banner comes from an ad server, the entries are recorded as direct entries.

  • I use two statistics systems. Each of the systems presents different data. Where do discrepancies come from?

Discrepancies between two different statistics systems are possible. It depends on the applied methodology of counting data. stat24 employs technology of counting cookies, which has been recognized as a standard of research on Polish Internet.

  • Are the pop-up advertisement clicks recorded under Referrers > Referrer Websites?

Visits launched from pop up advertisements are recorded as direct entries on the website as they come from an ad server and are not physically present on the website.

  • Why does the number of clicks on the sponsored links differ from data displayed in the Referrers section of the browser?

Clicks and visits are two different concepts. Why are the results different: 1) The page to which the user is redirected does not contain a counting script. 2) A click does not always correspond to website visit (after clicking, a user may close a browser window, not waiting until the page is loaded) 3) During one visit, a user may click a sponsored link several times.

  • Are all visits launched via sponsored links recorder under Referrers?

Yes, all visits launched via sponsored links are recorded. The Referrers section contains the number of visits, not the number of clicks.

  • Why the recent visit view is zero?

The last visit view is zero, since the browser window has probably been closed or another address has been typed directly in the browser window. Owing to transition to another page, it is not possible to estimate the end of the page view. Why is the duration viewed as 0 s. This visit duration does not affect average values, since it is not taken into consideration during counting.

  • Why does the number of users differ from the number of their visits?

A concept of a visitor and a concept of a visit are entirely different concepts. A user makes a visit, but this does not mean that the number of users is to correspond to a number of visits. Why? One unique user (cookie) may make x visits within a month. The user will be recorded as one unique user; however, the number of this user's visits will be x.

  • Is it possible to gain detailed data by day for the last year?

Is it possible to gain detailed data by day or week for the last year? Owing to legibility of data, they are presented by year.

  • Why does the sum of users for each day is different than the monthly summary?

The issue of non-arithmetical summary of users has been presented in the following example: An example: By day (1, 2, 3, 4....., day of month) and by month (January, February ... ) If, for instance, a user visits a website on 3rd March, he is treated as a new user. If he visits the website on 4th March, he is treated as a returning user (provided that he did not delete the cookies). In a daily distribution, the users are counted each day. However, in a monthly distribution, it is only one user, since it is physically one unique cookie. It stems from the above analysis that a selected time interval is very essential. To visualise a situation, see an example blow: If a user visited the website each day of a month one time, this will be written as: 1st March - new user 2 ..... 31st March - a returning user. At the end of March (a monthly distribution) there is no entry that the website was visited by 31 user but only one. Why? There was only one unique user visiting the website. He was able to make x page views; however, it is still the same unique user.

  • May the collected data help to identify the identity of the Internet users?

Statistics do not gather any personal data of the users. Only data concerning the browser and the computer of the visitor are gathered.

  • How long does stat24 store data on the monitored website?

Data related to the visits frequency are stored from the establishment of the account? Owing to high legibility of data, the interface data pertain to the ongoing as well as the past year.

  • I have a variable IP number. How may I block it?

It is not possible to block a variable IP. Only a fixed IP address may be blocked.

  • What is the basis for stat24 geolocalization?

Geolocalization is based on recognizability of IP addresses and cookies

  • Is it possible to print data / interface charts?

Yes. It is possible to print charts and tables directly from statistics interface and printing charts

  • Is it possible to copy data from the interface?

Yes. It is possible to copy charts and tables directly from statistics interface and printing charts

  • After having logged, only the ranking section under Administration is accessible. Why is it so?

Ranking section is the only one accessible if during a recent visit, the user/administrator did not logged out by clicking the key but simply closing the browser window. In this case, the system recognizes the account as currently in use, thus consecutive instances of logging in are carried out in read only mode. stat24 recommends repeated logging in to the interface and in the case of a message saying that the account is currently in use, select the option CLOSED THE PREVIOUS SESSION. After selecting the message, the user may log in as an administrator of the account, which will enable all the functions.

  • What happens if two scripts are placed on one page?

If on page contains 2 counting scripts, each page vie will be counted twice. Thus the statistics will be exaggerated. Each page should contain only one counting scripts.

  • Is it possible to place several counting scripts on one page?

If one subpage contains several banners/advertisements which are to be monitored in terms of the number of clicks, it is possible to place the scripts in them. Each script is assigned to a particular banner and counts only its own clicks not interrupting with the script measuring the website traffic.

  • Why does the duration of a visit/banner or a click script is zero seconds.

Clicking script measure only the number of clicks of a particular advertisements and not the time spent on the website to which the user has been transferred. Hence, the duration of page views/visits will always be zero seconds. This value is not calculated within an average duration of visits / page views

  • I have pasted the counter code. Yet, it does not produce any data. Where did I make a mistake?

Data in the counter will be displayed after earlier addition of a counting script. If there are no data in the interface, they will be presented in stat24 statistics. In addition, you must check if the codes are pasted properly. they cannot be edited or modified.

  • What are stat24 statistics??

stat24 statistics emerge as a proved statistical tool for measuring the website traffic. Technology used by stat24 is a standard of research on Polish Internet. Stat24 statistics provide not only reliable website monitoring but also free promotion in the stat24 ranking as well as the possibility of using a counter presenting the counted data. In addition, it is possible to order a report summarizing visits statistics.

  • I own a stat24 hosting account. the data are not counted? What should I do?

Stat24 cooperates with a number of hosting companies who act as agents in selling the statistics services. if the statistics which are made available by the hosting provider are not counted, you must directly contact the provider to settle this issue.

  • Data in Referrers sections are not counted. Do my statistics work incorrectly?

Information on website popularity is counted. Only the referrers section is updated every 24 hours. If the script has been pasted properly, data will be transmitted to referrers section. Other data are transmitted to the interface every few minutes, but delay in presentation of them can take 2 hours.

  • Why do I observe delay in last hour data presentation?

The new engine counts data for 'barchart' statistics, quickstats and details of last visits. Thanks to new engine it will be possible to develop statistics system and minimalize technical problems and its likely causes.
The new engine (counting and servers) is based on new the system, which may cause delay of data presentation in the interface. Average delay may be up to 2 hours.
In the new engine non-cookie page views will be processed at the same time with cookie page views. The dalay in presenting both data will be similar.
There is also new algorithm which presents details of last 50 visits. There are presented those visits with most actual time. The delay in Last 50 visits may be different to other statistics due to different processes. It shouldn't be more than dozen minutes though.

Statistics served by the new engine:

    • Page Views – summary
    • Page views - page views duration
    • Visitors – summary
    • Visitors - time spent on site
    • Visits – summary
    • Visits - visits lenght
    • Visits - visits scope
    • Visits - visits duration
    • Wizyty - last 50 visits
    • Geographic reports - visitors (cookies) > summary

A 404 page means that the selected subpage of a monitored website is not available at the moment.

  • My website has several domains (my-cool-website.com, my-website.com). Why does clickMap show the results separately, although it is the same website?

clickMap records clicks on particular URLs (addresses) and does not combine clicks on various URLs, although they might take you to the same page. The clicks are assigned to the address used by the visitor to view the page.

  • My page may be viewed by entering the entire domain www.my-cool-website.com or without www (my-cool-website.com). Why the clicks for these addresses are viewed separately?

Domains with www and without www represent two different URLs (addresses) respectively and thus the clicks will be presented for each of them separately. clickMap records clicks on particular URLs (addresses) and does not combine clicks on various URLs, although they might take you to the same page. The clicks are assigned to the address used by the visitor to view the page.
